Eventually, I suppose I'll meet Harry.
Dick and I were talking about Michael Moore. That much I remember. Of course, being at Mimi's for several didn't help my argumentation (it did help out in the bombast department). I promised Dick an email on my Michael Moore thoughts. So my email to Dick will be in the form of a post on Michael Moore. I will suggest to Dick (and Tom, and other visitors) that he click through and explore each site. Though I will not link to it here, the article on how many Poles view F911 is telling (hint: aggressive hate propaganda, something that most Poles still living know all too well) and easy to find.
Deconstructing Bowling for Columbine: here are two articles I know I've seen in the past, here and here. The first link especially goes into a lot of documented detail on Moore's deceptive manipulations.
Deconstructing Fahrenheit 9/11: with the viewing public now aware of Moore's hunger for facts which are not true, this debunking came out relatively soon after the movie.
Moore "watch sites": Moore Lies, and Moore Watch. I'm sure there are more. Once again, these sites are interested in deconstructing Moore's works, not in ad hominem attacks against Moore himself (well, the latter is hard to avoid as he such a large, soft, unshaven target).
The book: Michael Moore is a Big Fat Stupid White Man. Largely regarded as a well-researched tome. New York Times best seller for several weeks. From the first review at Amazon.com:
Excellent book. It's apparent to me that most of the negative reviews here come from people who obviously have not read the book. The authors spend much time on their research, and Michael Moore's work is studied in detail, from his early days at General Motors, where he quits after 1 day, through his times working at Mother Jones (fired), working for Ralph Nader (fired), and leading up to his work Roger And Me, getting his show TV Nation canceled by NBC and FOX, working for Salon magazine, all the way through his movies and books.
The movie: Michael Moore Hates America. This movie is apparently coming out any day, and this is a movie I'll pay to see (I will not pay Michael Moore one cent to view his crap [I can look at my own for free]; if that puts me in a position to not criticize his work, I have two words for you: shut the fuck up). A guy named Michael Wilson doing a Roger and Me to Michael Moore.
Direct and indirect references to Michael Moore:
Mike S. Adams: How to collect guns and irritate PETA. Mike Adams references previous works of his so click back through two articles and read from there. Funny stuff.
I've Had It Up To HERE. I have no idea who Jeff Brokaw is, but God bless him (via Kim du Toit).
And finally, Mark Steyn, perhaps my favorite commentator today. Either him or Lileks.
As the 9/11 commission report is being disected, and the "who knew what when" posts and articles are being published, several older articles are resurfacing. I am sure I spotted this article, originally published in Vanity Fair, two years ago; it's a thoroughly documented history of the utter arrogance and denial of the Clinton administration, especially of Madeline Albright and the State Department and our favorite stocking-stuffer Sandy Berger, in it's dealings with the Sudan's repeated offers to share intelligence on OBL and al Qaeda.
One can only wonder (not with childlike awe, but with cancerous regret) just what might have been prevented had the Clinton administration worked with the Mukhabarat (Sudan's 'CIA') in 1996 and onward.
It's not "Bush Lied!" It's "Clinton Lied Down!"
Much more at Just One Minute blog. Scroll up and down for very thorough coverage on the commission report and the Bergler.
A great animation! The Clinton cameo is the best. JibJab.com
