Hang in there! New Orleans is the only place my husband and I want to go on vacation--we usually stay at La Pavillion for a couple of days every year--and we were heart sick at the thought of the devastation. I even ordered a couple of coffee-table books on the French Quarter and New Orleans from Amazon this morning, thinking that the photos may be the only way we'd get to experience it in the future. Fortunately, that appears not to be the case.
Posted by beloml at August 29, 2005 02:51 PMI'm so glad our prayers were answered and NO was spared the certain-destruction scenario...I used to live there, and there's friends there that I couldn't get a hold of, and can only pray that they are okay...and I also hope that this is a wake-up call to DO something before the REAL "big one" hits.
Posted by Paige at August 29, 2005 09:31 PMI kind of know the feeling you're talking about. This sense that there may be a new reality to deal with and you don't know what it is but it will mean some adjustment. The existence of a great city like New Orleans to begin with is a little bit miraculous itself. I'm wishing you the best with everything and hope that you can continue to enjoy it, even if things will change.
