Comments: West Bank/Algiers Point/Gretna Message Board

Forgive me for my poor geographical knowledge (my wife is the native). You can delete this if I chose the wrong one.

My mother-in-law is stuck in a nursing home in the 2200 block of Jefferson Hwy. She fractured her pelvis a couple of weeks ago and was not able to travel.

The nursing home is a one-story building, so we are obviously very concerned. Does anyone have any idea about the conditions in that area? I believe it's quite near Ochsner Hospital.

Also, Our friends that did evacuate live on Aris near Veterans, does anyone know the conditions there?

Matt,

The nursing home sounds like it is in Jefferson Parish. I have set up an "Anywhere Else" blog post. You may want to post there:

Good luck, and God Bless

My dad works at West Jefferson Hospital, and he's been there since Sunday. He says that they are on backup generators, but everything is fully functional, so if she can get over there, she'll have good care, and its not too far. I hear that the western part of the I-10 is flooded, but the eastern part was ok, from what I've heard via radio. Good luck.
